Yup, from time to time I am asked to break
out the puppets. I don't perform 'em too often anymore, after
years of performing every day. I still
teach
puppetry regularly. However, if your event needs a good strolling or
"walk-around" character, I am available to bring along "Ferdinand".
Essentially, its a walking stage, where I
stand, hidden, behind the curtain, and having live conversations with
your event attendees. I'm fully mobile and can easily see from
behind the curtain. It's actually a GREAT trade show attention
getter. But generally I am asked to perform this unique strolling
character at festivals.

Darren and "Ferdinand" posing for a picture.
Quick story: I have
been invited to work at Charles Swindoll's church in Frisco, TX a number
of times. My first time there, I was doing a little walk-around in
this stage during their vacation Bible school. After a few laughs
I was escorted, in the stage, into Dr. Swindoll's office. He was
ready to spar. Ferdinand and Chuck fought for a few minutes.
During that time, Ferdinand implied that Dr. Swindoll drank before his
sermons, accused him of having bad breath and wearing a toupee'.
Mr. Swindoll seemed to have no trouble exchanging tit for tat. It was
good times. Chuck seems like a pretty good guy. And, I was
invited back.
